Yeasayer

As I said in yesterday's post, I saw Yeasayer live on April 3d with Lincoln and D Man among a few others. I came away feeling jubilant and contemplating whether it was the best live show I've seen in the past year (Roots probably being the other). This was a Saturday night show, and I hadn't been to one in a long time, but it really set the tone for a fun night.

Originally introduced a few years ago by Jstreet, I can't say I loved this band until... their latest album started to leak. The song, Ambling Alp immediately grabbed me and forced me to listen to it a few times over to the point of singing the chorus ("you must stick up for yourself son, nevermind what anybody else done") aloud to myself, and as Lincoln said it was probably his favorite song of the show "probably because thats [his] favorite song on the album." No longer could I consider them "too experimental" or too folksy (something I didn't understand when I was first introduced to them) as they put together a complete and dynamic sound. Granted things are a little more electronic and pop,

The complementing but wildly different voices of the two singers attributed, in my mind, to being so good live. What really caught me off guard, and what became my favorite song of the night was "I Remember"... it really drew us, and the rest of the crowd into a great sing along. The slower pace of the song and electronic notes, coupled with the simplistic lyrics to yell with Mr. Keating "You're stuck in my mind, allllllllll the time" really endeared me to this group's performance.

Another great song of the new album, and really fun to dance to was "O.N.E." and I knew that was going to be a great song, and it encapsulated what we all agreed to be a "dancy" (very on point Lincoln) set.

A few other songs you need to listen to:
Yeasayer - Tightrope

2080, and yes the killed their first hit at this show

Crazy light show, very trippy and worked well with the vibe of the music (reminded Lincoln of Cut Copy's live show) so here are the two pictures I took with my cell phone:

All I can say is thank you Jstreet for introducing me, and if you don't know about them, recognize.
