Brothers of Chico Dusty - Mashville

Oh, you are asking what the link is? Mash-up Wednesdays. Yeah, basically a mash-up of two of the most awesome albums of the year. Black Keys' "Brothers" and Big Boi's "Sir Lucious Leftfoot: The Son of Chico Dusty. Gotta credit Colemania for sending this one. Thank you! Don't expect just a straight-up mash-up of the two artists, obviously adds great parts of each of the great(est?) albums of 2010. Wick-It The Instigator definitely adds some unexpected touches of funk and freshness to two of the arguably funkiest and freshest of hip-hop and rock/blues albums of 2010.

Bibio

A year ago Jstreet put me onto some music he was listening to, and I immediately I fell in love with a song put out by British music producer Steven Wilkinson, better known as Bibio. The song, simply put, makes you feel happy. Half-way through the song, the dynamic of the song completely changes and it is an unexpected and pleasant surprise. Do you know those songs that get stuck in your head and you immediately recognize when you hear it, but never remember how you know the song or who makes the song or the song name?

Wake Up! - The Roots and John Legend

The Roots in the last few years have cemented their place in musical greatness, they continue to to evolve their music and appeal to wider audiences. Also, if you've never seen a Roots show live, it is one of the best live bands to see in the world. While some might have thought that deciding to be Jimmy Fallon's late night band would constitute "selling out" they have been a main draw to the show and maintained their spot tastefully. Their last album, How I Got Over, critically acclaimed, probably did not produce those "hitters" from their previous album, Game Theory.

Beach Fossils

This summer, I stumbled upon this song from www.hypem.com - "Daydream" by Beach Fossils. Never heard of them before, and this band doesn't blow you away with their music, at times it seems simplistic, and I can't figure out what it reminds me of... but I'm oddly drawn to listening to more of the songs.

Thoughts? Too weird and hipster for you?
