First, I apologize for writing "DJ/techno" songs because I don't know how to classify/describe these songs, which really leads to the point of this post.
In the gym one day I hear a catchy (techno) song that actually stayed in my head (I usually block out the ridiculous club music that plays in my gym), and a few weeks later I heard it on a Spanish commercial, but I had NO IDEA if the song was popular, how I could listen to it again, whatever. Is it a techno song? Is it a "house" song? What is "house music" v "techno music." I clearly do not know much about this music, and that created a problem -- How does one search for a "techno song"? Since I couldn't understand if there were really any words to the song, it was harder than that search for the song on the Kindle commercial I had heard before. I tried "popular techno songs" but clearly that won't give you anything. Then I tried a succession of searches: "techno club Spanish song" (note: it is not Spanish), then "techno song with staccato loop with horns" (trying to pretend like I understand techno music" then "techno song with saxaphone." After about 10 minutes of internet searching, and I don't know how I found the song stuck in my head but I found it:
You can also listen to it here on Hypem
And now, I'm hearing it everywhere... apparently it is really popular, I got lucky... and now I can't get it out of my head.
Later that same day I found that song and listened to it over and over, I heard a DJ pop/techno song on a commercial that I swore I heard before, and we were off to search for another 10 minutes? Luckily this song had a few words in it (searching "Hello song" didn't work), that I was able to find it a lot quicker, and luckily it has become a hit as well:
If you love that video concept, here's the extended version:
Here's the story behind Martin Solveig's Hello featuring Dragonette and the accompanying video project.
Both of these songs aren't what I usually listen to (whatever that means) but they are really fun and catchy.
