A year ago Jstreet put me onto some music he was listening to, and I immediately I fell in love with a song put out by British music producer Steven Wilkinson, better known as Bibio. The song, simply put, makes you feel happy. Half-way through the song, the dynamic of the song completely changes and it is an unexpected and pleasant surprise. Do you know those songs that get stuck in your head and you immediately recognize when you hear it, but never remember how you know the song or who makes the song or the song name?
That is what the song "Lovers Carvings" does to me, and luckily, the newest Amazon Kindle commercial uses a tiny part of the song and after immediately recognizing that part, I had to scour my brain and figure out how I knew that song. Last night, after seeing the commercial for the third time, the song finally came to me and I'm glad to be listening to Bibio again. The rest of his songs are quite different from one another, and he even samples the great J Dilla on the song Fire Ant. Pitchfork has a good review of Bibio's album Ambivalence Avenue here.
