Bon Iver

Back... again. Looking forward to writing more and keeping this baby going. Check back tomorrow for a big post.

Its Christmas eve, you are on your second bottle of wine talking with your uncle and mom about an elder family member recovering in a hospital, talking about life as Props would say, and what do you listen to? Uncle requested Depeche Mode, I throw on Bon Iver. Much has said about the talented indie group Bon Iver, with the soft but soothing and pained voice of Justin Vernon. Helps that it is cold outside in upstate new york. I don’t mean to say it is something to listen to in a sad state, you can, but it is more of an artist you can play in the background at a lower volume but still want to hear the voice persisting. Justin Vernon recorded his debut album alone in the winter cold of northern Wisconsin an isolated cabin and as corny as it sounds, a solid warmth comes through in his voice.

My favorite songs:
For Emma
Skinny Love

What do you think? Could Justin Vernon serve as a modern day Nick Drake? Will his appearance on Kanye West's new album ("Monster" and "Lost in the World") raise Bon Iver's profile into greater indie stardom?
